“Cities have the capability of providing something for everybody, only because, and only when, they are created by everybody.”
On Saturday, May 21, 2016, a Jane’s Walk took place in Chamberí, which gathered around 140 people to tour the streets of the neighborhood. The walk started at the Cuatro Caminos stop at 10.30 in the morning with a visit to the Cervantes School and the Ruiz Egea Youth Center. Throughout nine stops we were able to discover places of the neighborhood, such as the Sorolla Museum garden, the Ortega y Gasset Foundation or the Beti Jai, currently undergoing rehabilitation works.
The associations involved in the organization of the tour were several, such as Chamberí residents association “El Organillo”, the association “Green Heart”, the collective “El Paseo de Jane”, “Parque Sí en Chamberí” and the group of students and teachers of the MA in Architectural Communication, Temporary Atmospheres, several volunteers joined the organizing team, sharing their knowledge of the place, experiences and stories at each stop: Belinda Yufera, Jose Luis Gordo, Víctor Izquierdo, Álvaro Valdés, volunteer “Corazón Verde”, Luisa Roquero, Paloma Alcalá, Álvaro Bonet , voluntary “Fundación Giner de los Ríos”.
